< Back APAC SwedCham Webinar: Can food systems enable a sustainable and resilient food value chain for tomorrow?, 14 November 2023 The Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) recently hosted a thought-provoking APAC SwedCham webinar, titled ‘Can Food Systems Enable Sustainable and Resilient Food Value Chain for Tomorrow?’ on 14 November 2023. The webinar aimed to address the pressing issue of food loss and waste (FLW), which contributes significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions, impacting climate stability and triggering extreme weather events. Distinguished industry specialists from Alfa Laval, Tetra Pak Group, and ABB delved into approaches to address sustainable food and beverage systems problems and provide some innovative solutions. Patrick Horner, Global Technology Lead for Waste Evaporation and Zero Liquid Discharge at Alfa Laval, Denmark, explored the role of water stewardship and circularity in promoting sustainability within the food industry, giving a case study such as how they transform the brewery wastewater management and reduce the water footprint in food production. • Risks and Rewards: Outcomes of Labour Migration in South-East Asia by ILO, IOM and Rapid Asia | SweCham

< Back Risks and Rewards: Outcomes of Labour Migration in South-East Asia by ILO, IOM and Rapid Asia SweCham member, Rapid Asia, who specialises in social research and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) consulting conducted an interesting research and published report. In 2017, Rapid Asia conducted a study on behalf of ILO and IOM to obtain a better understanding of the factors that shape migration outcomes in Southeast Asia. The study interviewed over 1800 returnee migrant workers from Cambodia, Viet Nam, Lao PDR and Myanmar who had been employed in Thailand or Malaysia. The findings are published in the report Risks and rewards: Outcomes of labour migration in South-East Asia released for International Migrants Day on 18 December 2017. A Migration Outcomes Index (MOI) was developed for this study to measure changes in the lives of migrant workers from before to after their migration. The Index broadens the way migration outcomes are measured by incorporating both social and economic elements. It represents a break not only from the narrow focus on counting remittances but also from the human trafficking paradigm that has been very dominant in SE Asia. Previous Next

  • Preventing Dengue Fever with Vaccine by BNH Hospital [Member Promotion]

< Back Preventing Dengue Fever with Vaccine by BNH Hospital [Member Promotion] 12 Sept 2023 Dengue Fever is a viral infection transmitted by the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes, causing epidemics worldwide, especially in countries with hot and humid climates like Thailand. This fever is caused by any one of four types of dengue viruses, which are DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4. Should you have had dengue fever in the past, you can still be infected again by the other virus types. In addition, previous infection with dengue fever increases your risk of severe symptoms if you get dengue fever again. Prevention 📌 Vaccine: If you live in an area where there is an outbreak or at risk of infection, getting vaccinated might be another preventive measure. 📌 Eradicate mosquito breeding sites: Eliminate breeding grounds for mosquitoes, such as water bottles, rainwater pipes, water tanks, or use chemicals to kill mosquito larvae. 📌 Prevent mosquito bites: Use mosquito repellent and wear clothing that covers the skin. Apply skin repellents or spray them on clothes.
