The meeting aimed to offer opportunities for these businesses to share their challenges while further expanding the network of the Thailand-Sweden business community. At the meeting, the Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand, H.E. Anna Hammargren, provided some key facts on the broad relationship between Sweden and Thailand. Around 100 Swedish companies currently operate in Thailand, some with a long history in the country. In addition, the Embassy is stepping up efforts to develop trade and investments aligned with a new Swedish Government strategy on foreign trade, strengthening Sweden's position as a partner for green and digital transition. • SweCham Business Connect, 9 May 2024

< Back SweCham Business Connect, 9 May 2024 On 9 May, SweCham hosted the 'SweCham Business Connect' at the elegant Oriental Residence Hotel in Bangkok . The evening began with a warm welcome from our president, Mr. Peter Bjรถrk, who also extended his greetings to our annual partners, Platinum Partner Dynapac , and our Gold Partner Husqvarna and our workplace partner IWG . Following the introductions, Mr. Bhumivisan Kasemsook, Secretary-General of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), gave an insightful presentation on the PACC's strategies for suppressing and preventing corruption. The PACC is committed to establishing better checks and balances to ensure transparency and accountability. Mr. Bhumivisan illustrated this with a case where a businessman reported a corrupt official who had demanded 3 million baht for the approval of a licence. The report led to an investigation and the official's arrest within seven days. Mr. Bhumivisan emphasised that ideally, corruption should not occur at all. The most effective means of prevention is to foster a cultural shift within the Thai government, particularly through the education and training of young officers and government employees. He stressed the importance of reporting corruption to the PACC, as silence allows corruption to flourish. We would like to extend our warm thanks to Mr. Bhumivisan Kasemsook for the interesting presentation that generated many questions from the floor and a very dynamic discussion. Big warm thanks to our hotel partner, Oriental Residence Hotel for the delicious food, luxurious venue and the excellent service which added a lively atmosphere to the networking and mingling! We would also like to thank the supporting chambers and organisations for their support of the event. Finally, we would like to warmly thank everyone who came to join our networking event. It was truly an unforgettable occasion. If you have been affected by corruption, please contact the PACC via their hotline at 1206#9 or email at investor.center@pacc.go.th Click here for the Full Photo Book! Previous Next
