Swedish Midsummer

On Saturday 15 June, Thai Swedish Chamber of Commerce hosted the Swedish Midsummer Celebration at Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok. It was more than 100 guests gathered to celebrate Midsummer with their families and friends.

Rembrandts Hotel had dressing the Midsummer pole in leaves and flowers and raised it in the kid room where there is dancing space around it. There was a also activities such as painting and making wealth were also available for kids to join. Swea together with the Swedish School Association was responsible for taking care of the kids.

The guests enjoyed the delicious Swedish Midsummer Buffet. This year the lunch was served with original and high quality food such as Herring and cheese imported from Sweden. Swedish Kottbullar (meatballs) was made by the chamber’s executive director Peter Bjork and Janssons temptation was also made by our Board Member, Bjorn Richardsson.

During the midsummer celebration many Swedes sang Swedish snaps songs and toasted with a verity of aquavits. Kids and adults danced around the midsummer pole, which made the midsummer celebration spirit high.  Lotteries were also sold and the lucky winners were announced by the Chamber’s Executive Director. He also thanked the General Manager of Rembrandt, Eric Hallin and all the sponsors for the event. The lucky draw prizes were sponsored by Black Mountain Golf Club Huahin, Water Park Huahin, Rembrandt Hotel, St.Regis Hotel, Landmark Hotel, Samitivej Hospital, Oriflame and Volvo Car.  We received 28,000 Bath from selling lotteries and the chamber together with Swea donated all the money to the Slum Klongteoy foundation for charity.

The room was filled with laughter and happiness, the celebration was wonderful and all the guests were very satisfied. We, at the chamber would like to thank all the guests that joined our delightful celebration, Rembrandt Hotel for delicious food, excellent service and nice venue. Big thanks to all the sponsors for lucky draw prizes, and last but not least thank you Swea and the Swedish School Association for good cooperation and for taking care of all the kids.
