GAC Company visit and Networking Lunch, 3 November 2022

On 3 November, SweCham team and members had the opportunity to visit GAC Thoresen Logistics, a sister company of Gulf Agency Company (Thailand) Ltd, located in Chonburi. The tour started with an introduction of the company by Managing Director, Julian Kordek before being shown around the warehouse facility by Business Manager in Logistics Services, Rinnu George and ended with lunch and networking session.

Both companies are part of the GAC Group. Swedish entrepreneur Bengt Lindwall established the Gulf Agency Company (GAC) in 1956 after signing an agreement with two Kuwaiti businessmen to provide professional ship agency services in the country. Today, GAC Group is a global provider of integrated shipping, logistics, and marine services. The company employs over 7,500 employees around the world at more than 300 locations in over 50 countries. GAC Thailand was established in 1992 with a unique focus on logistics and shipping services and we were given the opportunity to visit the GAC warehouse facility in the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate to learn more about their operations.

Offering more than 28,000 pallet positions, the distribution facility is BRC certified, FMCG and pharmaceutical grade, providing multi-use functionality and temperature-controlled storage.

Leveraging shared resources, they also offer value-added services such as component assembly, repackaging, and labelling. With their expertise in demand planning, they help to reduce customers’ capital investments and efficiently respond to the ever-changing demands of the market. Utilising their own warehouse management system GACware, they keep track of stock levels in real time, and the system can be adapted to suit both small set-ups and large retail scenarios.

GAC prioritises on quality and safety in all its operations and conducts in-house workshops to ensure a smooth and safe running of the facility, along with providing all required safety gear for workers. To accommodate the specific safety and hygiene requirements for handling of raw materials, GAC has a special protocol in place along with weekly briefings to ensure quality operation.

The Group’s global network of owned offices and trusted partners elsewhere enables the company to cover more than 1,000 locations worldwide and ensure that operations are of the same quality standards wherever customers go.

Highly driven by customer needs, flexibility is the hallmark of their services – if there are specific requirements GAC will try to deliver with customised solutions. Its success is due to its focus on long-term relationships whether it is with customers, potential clients, partners, suppliers or staff.

GAC also believes in connection through sport. Participants were invited to the Amata Spring Country Club to enjoy a delicious lunch along with a game of golf. Everyone gets to network and enjoy the delicious buffet under the courtesy of GAC.

Special thanks to Khun Julian Kordek, Khun Rinnu George, and the GAC team for hosting this company visit and for their wonderful hospitality. We have learnt so much about logistics, the warehouse system, the company’s history, and their work during this fruitful trip.

Thank you very much to all who attended, and we hope that everyone gets to know GAC better through this visit.
