Digital Broadcasting and Digital TV

On 15 May 2014, TSCC joined the conference co-organized by the European ASEAN Business Centre (EABC) and the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce (JFCCT) at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit hotel. The topic of the conference was “Digital Broadcasting and Digital TV: a new era in high quality entertainment, information and learning”. It was encouraged by Thailand’s first sprectrum auction of digital terrestrail TV licences done by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). Given that Thai society will enter the new era of digital media, EABC and JFCCT view this as important platform in doing business in Thailand and therefore members should gain knowledge on how to take benefit from this change.

The conference started with a remark given by Madaleine Kihlberg, First Counsellor EUD in Thailand, Lao, Cambodia, Myanmar. She expressed her appreciation to work with the European Union (EU) and currently, related to the ICT sector. The conference contained two modes of engagement – presentations and moderated engagement in which presentations were presented by four keynote speakers; Col. Dr. Natee Sukonrat, Vice Chairman of NBTC and Broadcasting Commission. He addressed on the topic “Digital Broadcasting – the regulator’s vision”. Second came Allan T. Rasmussen, Managing Director of Yozzo Ltd. He addressed on “Digital Broadcasting and TV in a converged marketplace”. Third, Mr. Pana Janviroj, President of the Nation Multimedia Group. He kindly promoted his TV channel “NOW” which will be innovated for the audiences both Thais and foreigners. Last, It was Bob Fox, Vice Chair of ICT group for the EABC and JFCCT, addressed on the topic of “Service sector liberalization and digital broadcasting”. The end of the conference was concluded by moderated engagement session and a lucky draw game.

The conference was a paid off one as all participants were well engaged by shooting questions and clarifying some informations firstly addressed by the speaker. TSCC was delighted to join the conference and hope to see continous progress of all parties related to ICT sector – the new era of digital.
