SUT Joins THE Digital Universities Asia 2023 by Times Higher Education

On 9 May 2023, Dr. Sorachai Kamollimsakul, the Director of the Center for Educational Innovation and Technology at Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), represented the university at THE Digital Universities Asia 2023 event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The panel session titled ‘HyFlex education in VUCA world’ discussed the challenges of higher education in the face of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) in the world. Dr. Sorachai was one of the panellists, along with representatives from other universities.  They discussed lessons learned from VUCA, the benefits of Hybrid Flexible (HyFlex) transformation in improving student learning, the integration of HyFlex approaches into institutional policy, and the risks and challenges associated with HyFlex education. Dr. Sorachai shared SUT’s experience in adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing HyFlex learning through their digital platform called XLANE, which offers a variety of micro-credential modular courses.  These courses provide flexible, adaptive, and responsive learning experiences to prepare students for a VUCA world.  Upon completion, learners receive digital certificates or badges with credits that can be applied towards a degree in the future.
