On 10 September 2024, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced significant changes to the Swedish government, introducing two new ministers and reshuffling several others.
Among the changes, Maria Malmer Stenergard, previously the Minister for Migration, was appointed as the new Minister for Foreign Affairs, assuming this key diplomatic role. Johan Forssell, who had been serving as Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, was reassigned as Minister for Migration. Benjamin Dousa, former CEO of Företagarna, took over as the new Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade.
Former Minister for Employment and Integration, Johan Pehrson, assumed the role of Minister for Education, while Mats Persson, the former Education Minister, became the new Minister for Employment and Integration. Additionally, Jessica Rosencrantz, former Chair of the EU Affairs Committee, was appointed as the new Minister for EU Affairs, marking her first position in government. These changes aim to bring new perspectives and strengthen the government’s capacity to address international, educational, and labour market challenges.
