Yesterday, SweCham team joined 30 representatives from diverse Swedish business sectors at the Sindhorn Midtown Hotel for a day focused on "Expanding in Thailand: Opportunities, Challenges, and Insights for Swedish SMEs." This study trip provides a unique platform for these companies to gain firsthand knowledge of Southeast Asia's dynamic markets, with the goal of increasing exports and establishing a stronger presence in Asia and Oceania.
The morning session offered insightful presentations on Thailand's business climate and landscape. We were privileged to hear from:
Mr. Kacper Pierzynowski, Trade Commissioner of Sweden to Thailand, who provided a Swedish perspective on the Thai market.
Dr. Ornsaran Pomme Manuamorn, Senior Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank, who shared valuable insights on the Thai economy with a focus on SMEs.
Khun Tanita Sirisup, Executive Director of the Foreign Investment Marketing Division (BOI), who presented on business opportunities and investment incentives.
Following these informative sessions, the delegation engaged in an interactive panel discussion featuring real-world experiences from our members:
Khun Kongkiat Teekamonkol, Managing Director of Camfil Thailand
Khun Lars Svensson, Head of Strategic Partnership & BD ASEAN +6 of Midsummer
Khun Pontus Rosengren, CEO of Virtual Manufacturing
In the evening, we were honored to attend a networking reception hosted by H.E. Anna Hammargren, the Ambassador of Sweden, at the Ambassador's Residence. We were also privileged to hear a supportive address from the Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, who emphasized the shared commitment to green development and innovation in our bilateral partnership. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for the Swedish SME delegation to connect with established Swedish companies in Thailand, as well as with public and private local entities.
The Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce was truly impressed by the active engagement and keen interest displayed by the Swedish SMEs. We sincerely hope this experience proves beneficial and we look forward to the possibility of welcoming them back to Thailand, a key player in the Southeast Asian economic landscape.
