Wednesday, 19 December 2012 10:06

Swedish_Chamber_of_Commerce_in_Thailand_logo_w200h100Thai Swedish Chamber of Commerce will provide limited scholarships for two Thai students Master studies in Sweden 2013, basically covering visa fee and a return air ticket. Through our cooperation with two Swedish Universities Malardalen and Karlstad the students can go as exchange students without paying any tuition fees. Interested students need to cover their own cost of living for 10 months estimated to 7300 SEK / month.

There are many differences between Thailand and Sweden, such as culture and school system. The Thai school system is somewhat different from the European and more similar to the US system. In Thailand the common system is 4-6-10 years (bachelor-master-PhD), while Europe provides 3-5-8 years system. When it comes to languages, universities in Sweden provide most of the master programs in English.

Furthermore, the Swedish government introduced tuition fees from the academic year 2011 for citizens from non-EU/ESS countries. The fees will be set by the institutions themselves and it will cover the full cost of studies. Therefore the fee levels may vary depending on the type of course and institution and in what part of Sweden the course is given. However, this fee does not apply for exchanges students since all exchange agreements include a tuition waiver from both universities involved.

The Scholarship programs’ aim is to promote Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (TSCC) as well as Sweden as a country. Moreover, this scholarship program will provide opportunities to the students to go abroad for Master courses, and at the same time gain an insight in Swedish culture and the country itself, as well as the Swedish language if they would like to. The scholarship program also gives students the opportunities to learn and develop skills and competencies in the study area and in working with international environment.
